Vernal Pools

Our Vernal Pool Program is a collaboration between WNC and Ridgefield Public Schools. Fourth grade students learn what a vernal pool is and why they are important. Students collect biological, chemical, and physical data from our pools to monitor these habitats over time.

Vernal Pools are small bodies of water, typically found in the woods, that dry out occasionally. They are important habitats for a variety of animals.
