Upcoming Walks

Wednesday, August 26 from 6-7 pm

Discover the hidden history of the Woodcock Preserve. For 54 years, our dedicated team has stewarded these 152 acres, preserving both the landscape and the stories woven throughout it. We'll begin at Spectacle Swamp, where we'll uncover the story of a hidden dam, then make our way north to explore a picturesque pond, an architect-designed dream home, and a little-known monument tucked in the woods. Along the way, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for Woodcock’s past and a fresh perspective on its future. We'll walk and talk on this easy hike for adults.

Aprox 60 minutes. Please park in the small lot at the entryway to 56 Deer Run Road and meet at the trail head. Plus, take home a special gift!

Special guest: Peter Vanderminden, Woodcock Volunteer

Thursday, September 17 from 5-6 pm

Is anyone else awake? Let’s talk about the climate challenges and everyday habits that keep us up at night! Is my morning coffee ruining the environment? Is my conversation with a chatbot making the earth hotter? What matters more: individual action or corporate policy? We’ll walk from forest to stream as we discuss fact and fiction and figure out how to get more sleep at night while making an impact by day. We'll walk and talk on this easy hike for adults.

Aprox 60 minutes. Meet in front of the Nature Center. Plus, take home a special gift!

Special guest: Roberta Barbieri, Vice President, Global Sustainability at PepsiCo and Woodcock Board President

Hear from our Executive Director about what it takes to run a nature center. Do you wonder how we make decisions or plan our programs? Are you curious about fundraising or what it costs to feed the animals? We’ll chat about this and more while enjoying an easy hike, good conversation, and the arrival of summer. We'll walk and talk on this easy hike for adults only.
