Nature Journaling
April 9th, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Ages: Teens and Adults (13+)
Cost: $20 per person
A wise man once said, “Not all who wander are lost”. Do you want to look, touch, smell and feel the earth beneath your feet? Do you want to connect with Mother Nature? Staff naturalist and artist Sarah Breznen will teach simple techniques for drawing rocks, plants, trees and birds. Staff naturalist Jennifer Bradshaw will discuss one of the oldest forms for recording observations and explain various ways to use your journal. We will touch on ideas such as writing brief stories, poems, leaf rubbings, pressed flowers and more. With journals in hand we then venture off into nature to find a quiet place to observe, reflect, listen and record. Everyone will meet back in our pavilion and have the chance to share their thoughts and ideas. What’s next? Leave with tons of ideas and reference sheets to continue your journey of nature journaling!
WNC provides each participant with a nature journal and plain pencils. We encourage you to bring your own additional art supplies such as colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pens, rolled paper blending tools, etc.. We also suggest brining binoculars if you like as well as a snack and re-usable water bottle.
