90% trails, 100% fun. Run wild for Woodcock!

Woodcock Nature Center welcomes runners, hikers and walkers of all ages at its annual Where the Wild Things Run 5K and Kids Fun Run. For several decades, this event has highlighted Woodcock’s nearly 5 miles of publicly accessible trails and raised money for the center’s educational programs. All proceeds support the nature center!

The popular 5K is 90% trail with a mix of groomed trails, rugged trails and narrow bridges/boardwalks. Walkers are also welcome. The terrain of the 5k will highlight the diversity and beauty of the Woodcock property.

A shorter 1K Kids Fun Run geared towards ages 6 and up is guided by a Woodcock team member. Parents are also welcome to accompany their children.

The race ends in a Woodcock-style post race party including drinks with Ridgefield’s new Quartertone Coffee Roasters cart, Smootch beverages, Boxed Water and lunch for purchase from West Lane Deli, plus live music with School of Rock, safety craft with Sunrise of Wilton, sports treatments with HSS/Stamford Health, playground fun, games and the not-to-be-missed annual Woodcock live turtle race!

Families, friends and co-workers may also set up fundraising teams on our RunSignUp page when registering.

There will be signs posted throughout the course to help guide runners. Grounds and trails will remain open to the public during the race weekend. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Please park parallel along our driveway upon arrival. Trails are not stroller friendly.

Friday, 4-6 pm - Registration & Packet Pickup at Woodcock.

8:30 am - Registration & Packet Pickup

9:15 am - Kids Fun Run warm-up!

9:30 am - Kids Fun Run kick-off (15-20 min. guided race)

10:00 am - 5K kick-off (kids invited to cheer on the runners)

10:05 am - Kids crafts, activities, contests and music in and around the pavilion (playground will be open too!)

10:15 am - Woodcock Annual Turtle Race!

Gather around to see which of the Woodcock turtles will win this year!

11:00 am (aprox. ) - 5K awards plus family fun in and around our pavilion continues through the completion of the 5K.

5K Prizes will be awarded to top runners.

Fun Run racers will be entered in a raffle for some fun prizes.

Additional t-shirts and gear available for purchase at check-out and on race day.
